Our Lady of the Woods, an eclectic Wiccan coven based in Los Alamos, will hold a Drumming circle in North Mesa Park on Monday June 11, 2012 at 6PM.  Bring a drum or other musical instrument if you have one. We’ll have some extra instruments, drums, or shakers on hand. Plan to spend a fun evening making music and sharing rhythms and chants. Dress for the weather.

Young Life Golf Tournament Helps Teens Go to Camp

Young Life Los Alamos is hosting its second annual golf tournament May19 at the Los Alamos Golf Course.

It’s a Four Man Scramble Format golf tournament in which participants can create their own 4-some or be placed on a team.

All monies raised will go to benefit kids going to camp this summer.

This charitable event includes dinner, a raffle and prizes for the cost of $85 per golfer.

“It costs about $500 to send a teenager to summer camp for a week,” said Young Life Area Director Ryan Gilbert. “With the economy the way it is, we are able to offset that cost for families in need.”

The First United Methodist Church, 715 Diamond Drive (adjacent to Sullivan Field) has hosted the Friday night skate program called “United Skates” for nearly 50 years now.  With many thanks to church historian Alice Carter, we know that the very first United Skates sessions took place Friday, May 11, 1962, not long after the construction of Fellowship Hall was completed.

Horizons Preschool Becoming Own Entity

After 19 years as a preschool and 29 years as an afterschool program through White Rock United Methodist Church (WRUMC), Horizons Preschool and Daycare is becoming its own entity.
