ESPAÑOLA — The North Central Regional Transit District (NCRTD) Blue Bus will once again provide fare-free bus service to support pilgrims traveling to the annual Santuario de Chimayó pilgrimage on Good Friday, April 3.
Each year, tens of thousands of pilgrims take part in this centuries-old tradition, journeying to El Santuario de Chimayó—one of the most important Catholic pilgrimage destinations in the United States. The sanctuary is well known for the unusual legend of its creation and as a present-day pilgrimage site. It receives almost 300,000 visitors per year and has been called ‘no doubt the most important Catholic pilgrimage center in the United States.’ It is also often called the ‘Lourdes of America’ for its magical healing soil.
