Toppers Win Big at Los Alamos Classic Invitational

Los Alamos High Schools girls took first place Saturday at the Los Alamos Classic Invitational with 164 points..  Hope Christian was second with 148 points.  The Topper boys took first with 171 1/2 points while Hope Christian had 124 1/2 points.

It was a very successful day for the Toppers as several Los Alamos High School students qualified for the state meet.

Roller Derby is coming Los Alamos!  Check out the Derby Dames as they hold a practice scrimmage 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Sunday March 25 at the Los Alamos Ice Rink.

This practice will allow officials and non-skating team members to participate in the Dames training.

Katya Skurikhin Struck Gold

 

Atomic Tumbler Katya Skurikhin struck gold four times at the National Association of Women’s Gymnastics Judges (NAWGJ) optional meet on March 3rd. She and Los Alamos School of Gymnastics teammate Luvina Lucero traveled to Precision Gymnastics in Albuquerque, competing against Level 7 gymnasts from both New Mexico and Texas.

Lobos, Still Never Been Kissed!

The University of New Mexico Lobos Men’s Basketball team lost their bid for their first ever sweet sixteen berth. The Louisville Cardinals defeated the Lobos 59-56 in the third round of the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament in Portland Oregon on Saturday Night.

The game was a nail biter. The Lobos seemed to be in control of the ball initially and looked to be superior to Louisville but then Louisville gained their strength, leading by 15 at one point in the game.

Run for Her Life a Big Success Despite Fierce Winds

Local runners braved cold temperatures today to participate in the second annual Run for Her Life, a 5K and 10K race to raise awareness and funds to fight breast cancer.

The race was presented by the Los Alamos Chapter of Hadassah and Atomic City Roadrunners.

All donations and race proceeds will be donated to Hadassah for breast cancer research, education and treatment.
