Quality New Mexico is accepting applications for the 2013 Board of Examiners through May 10.

Examiners are volunteers who, working in teams, review applications submitted to the New Mexico Performance Excellence Awards program, administered by Quality New Mexico.

The awards program recognizes New Mexico business, government, education, health care and nonprofit organizations for their commitment, progress, or achievement in performance excellence. Quality New Mexico Accepting Award Applications

Quality New Mexico is accepting applications for the 2013 NM Performance Excellence Awards. The awards, which will be awarded next spring, include:

  • Piñon Recognition, commitmentto performance excellence

  • Roadrunner Recognition, progress toward performance excellence

  • Zia Award for Performance Excellence, best-in-class results

In celebration of Earth Day, U.S. Senators Tom Udall and Martin Heinrich reintroduced legislation Monday to designate the 45,000-acre Columbine-Hondo area in Taos County as wilderness – a proposal with strong support from the local community.

Jemez Pueblo Man Pleads Guilty to Federal Assault Charge

ALBUQUERQUE—Jerome Dominic Concha, 20, a member and resident of Jemez Pueblo, pleaded guilty this morning to a federal assault charge under a plea agreement with the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

Concha was arrested Jan. 10, on a criminal complaint charging him with assault with a dangerous weapon. In February, Concha was indicted and charged with assault resulting in serious bodily injury.

According to court records, on Jan. 1, Concha repeatedly struck another Jemez Pueblo man in the face and head with a hatchet in a residence on Jemez Pueblo.
