SANTA FE – Twenty-one New Mexico businesses and public entities were honored last week for their support of members of the New Mexico Guard and Reserve.

The New Mexico Chapter of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), hosted the lunchtime event April 11 at the National Guard Armory Aviation Support Facility in Santa Fe.

ESGR works to assist and educate employers about working with employees who are members of the National Guard or Reserve Units.

National Work Zone Awareness Week Begins April 15: ‘We’re All In This Together’

Work Zone Safety For Drivers and Construction Crews

SANTA FE – The week of April 15 marks the ceremonial start to highway construction season as well as National Work Zone Awareness Week.

This year’s campaign’s slogan: “We’re All In This Together” was designed to bring awareness to worker and driver safety in work zones.

Nationally, more than 700 people are killed and more than 37,000 are injured each year in crashes in highway work zones.

On average, four out of five people killed in work zone crashes are drivers or their passengers.

Forest Announces Release of New Motor Vehicle Use Map

SANTA FE – Effective Monday, April 15, the Santa Fe National Forest will release the Motor Vehicle Use Map that shows the public where it is legal to drive motorized vehicles on the forest.

The map is a result of work that began over six years ago in response to National Guidelines known as the 2005 Travel Management Rule, requiring all national forests in the country to evaluate their motorized system of roads and trails.

State Transportation Commission to Meet in Deming

SANTA FE – The State Transportation Commission will meet Thursday, April 18 in Deming.

The meeting is 1:30-4:30 p.m. at the Deming Conference Center, 119 East Pine Street.
