Los Alamos Quilter Claire Swinhoe Wins ‘Best Of Show’ At New Mexico State Fair 2024
Los Alamos quilter Claire Swinhoe won the ‘Best of Show’ award for appliqué quilting at the New Mexico State Fair 2024, for her quilt entitled ‘My Heart Will Go On’. It features nine blocks with pink heart motifs. The quilt is almost entirely hand appliquéd and took just under a year to complete. It was quilted by White Rock resident Roxanne Webster. COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Public Works Department has announced a scheduled water disruption for Tuesday, Sept. 24, as crews work to connect a main water line to a service line.
The exact timing and duration of the water shut-off has not yet been determined.
Due to this disruption, Fuller Lodge Art Center and the Los Alamos History Museum will be closed to the public. Fuller Lodge Art Center will only be accessible by appointment on that day.
The County advises residents and visitors to plan accordingly. Updates will be provided as information becomes available.

NMMC Launches ‘Music In The Community’ Grant Program
SANTA FE — The New Mexico Music Commission (NMMC) has launched its first grant program to support music performance and activities in communities across the state.
The “Music in the Community” grants program aims to enrich rural, tribal, veteran, disability and other underserved communities through funding that supports new or existing music engagement, music education, music appreciation or music performance programs or activities in New Mexico.
Ten $2,500 grants will be awarded to individuals or organizations bringing music and music programming into their communities. Read More
