3D Printing Taken To Next Level At NOMCON

The final six-foot tall crowdsourced 3D-printed sculpture of ‘We the Rosies’ will be displayed at the New Mexico History Museum in Santa Fe for all to see. The Santa Fe Opera and the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado are presenting the first apprentice concert of the 2018 season at the Four Seasons Resort Rancho Encantado.

This free concert at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday, features four young singers from The Santa Fe Opera’s Apprentice Singer Program:

  • Soprano Shannon Jennings;
  • Mezzo-soprano Gillian Cotter;
  • Tenor Elliot Paige; and
  • Baritone Kenneth Stavert.

Red Elvises band leader Igor Yuzov uses his guitar as a weapon during the Friday night Summer Concert at Ashley Pond Park. Yuzov was born in Germany, raised in Ukraine and studied in Russia. He grew up in the former Soviet Union, where folk music was the norm and rock’n’roll was illegal. A rebellious streak, however, led him to seek out the forbidden music. Daily Postcard: A century plant blooms at a residence on Bryce Street in White Rock. Although it is called a century plant, it typically lives only 10 to 30 years. It has a spread around 6–10 feet with gray-green leaves of 3–5 feet long, each with a prickly margin and a heavy spike at the tip that can pierce deeply. Near the end of its life, the plant sends up a tall, branched stalk, laden with yellow blossoms, that may reach up to 30 feet tall. Daily Postcard: The Art in Public Places Board is funding repairs and improvements to the appearance of the concrete and stone base of the Oppenheimer and Groves bronze historical sculptures near Fuller Lodge. These sculptures have become immensely popular with tourists often seen taking selfies with the duo. Over time, the concrete base of the statues has become stained and cracked so workers are pressure washing it, reinforcing it with mesh and re-finishing the concrete.
