Library Of Congress To Host Appointment Ceremony Of 2017 National Student Poets

The Library of Congress will host the appointment ceremony of the sixth class of the National Student Poets Program, honoring five outstanding youth poets from across the United States for their original work Thursday, Aug. 31.
 
The National Student Poets, who represent five different regions of the country, will read original works as part of the ceremony, which will be led by Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden and Institute of Museum and Library Services Director Kathryn K. Matthew.

Country music star Dale Watson of Ausitn, Texas gave an energetic performance the Friday night Summer Concert at Ashley Pond singing a non-stop variety of favorites that seemed to delight the crowd, no matter their musical taste. Los Alamos History Museum Celebrates Ranch School

The 100th anniversary of the Ranch School is being celebrated throughout Los Alamos. The newest exhibit at Fuller Lodge Art Center pays tribute to the Ranch School and right down the street, the Los Alamos History Museum also is celebrating the school in one of its exhibits. Museum Shop Manager and Volunteer Coordinator Todd Nichols explained that the exhibit started in the beginning of August and should be displayed for at least the next three months.
