‘Slowgirl’ at Santa Fe’s WH 21 Aug. 2-3, 9-10

A new play written by Greg Pierce and directed by Janet Davidson with Tatyana Stavrowsky and Chris Dempsy will be performed at 7:30 p.m. Saturday Aug. 2 and 9 and 4 p.m. Sunday Aug. 3 and 10 at the WH 21, 1641 Paseo de Peralta in Santa Fe.
 
The new play, which opened at Lincoln Center in 2012 with former “CSI” actor William Peterson, brings fresh eyes to the problem of bullying. The play tells the story of Becky, who is sent to Costa Rica to hide out with her recluse Uncle Sterling after a horrific accident.

Heinrich on Confirmation of Norman Bay to FERC

U.S. SENATE News:

U.S. Sen. Martin Heinrich, D-N.M., a member of the Senate Committee on Energy and Natural Resources, released the following statement after voting to confirm Norman C. Bay to be a member of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC).

Chick Keller Leads Wildflower Walk July 18

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) Jemez Mountain Herbarium curator, Chick Keller, will lead another Wildflower Walk at 5:15 p.m., Friday, July 18.

The Wildflower Walks occur monthly and are easy walks to identify some of the wildflower beauties found in and around Los Alamos. Each month Keller picks a different trail, depending on what is blooming at the time. The walks are free and there is no advance registration required.

DOE: Largest Such Project in World Will Capture 1.4 Million Tons of CO2 Annually

The Department of Energy (DOE) in partnership with NRG Energy Inc. and JX Nippon announced Tuesday that construction has begun on the first commercial-scale, post-combustion carbon-capture retrofit project in the U.S., the largest such project in the world.
