VCAT Report Details Recommendations For NIST Cryptographic Standards

NIST News:

The National Institute of Standards and Technology’s (NIST) Visiting Committee for Advanced Technology (VCAT) finalized a report detailing recommendations for NIST’s cryptographic standards program. 

The VCAT’s recommendations are based on a review conducted by a group of invited experts known at the Committee of Visitors, which began last April.

The Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) will host a Summer Family Evening, 6:30-8 p.m., July 22 at which staff members from the YMCA will facilitate a fun activity helping kids make pet rock “siblings.”

Families are welcome to drop in any time throughout the program.

After going outside to search for a pair of rocks, kids and their parents will bring them back in to PEEC where they can use different art and craft supplies to make their very own pet rock “siblings.”

Double Chocolate Brownies

Ingredients:

1 cup flour (*high altitude)
1/8 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/3 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons water
2 cups (12oz) chocolate
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 eggs
3/4 cup walnuts
 

Directions:

You can get the high altitude flour at Walmart. It is higher in protein, and a finer grind. This was the first time I tried it, and I think it did well. I want to keep trying it in baked goods to see if it out performs bread flour.

New Mexico State Police Investigate Vehicular Homicide in Rio Arriba County

NMSP News:

State Police responded to the Espanola hospital Friday regarding a deceased 28-year-old female, later identified as Lisa Espinoza.

Espinoza had suffered blunt force trauma to her head and upper body and was brought to the hospital by Richard Trujillo, 42, Espinoza’s boyfriend.

Through the course of the investigation, it was learned Espinoza and Trujillo were consuming alcohol earlier in the day. They were drinking at their cabin and at the El Cuerno Bar in Cebolla.
