FBI: Acoma Pueblo Man Pleads Guilty To Federal Voluntary Manslaughter And Firearms Charges

ALBUQUERQUE  Darius L. James, 40, an enrolled member of Acoma Pueblo, pled guilty Thursday in Federal Court in Albuquerque, to voluntary manslaughter and firearms charges. 
 
James was arrested Aug. 24, 2017, on a criminal complaint charging him with killing an Acoma Pueblo man by shooting him three times on the Acoma Pueblo Indian Reservation in Cibola County. According to the complaint, James encountered the victim hidden in a bedroom closet in James’ residence. As the victim fled the scene, James followed him into a

BLM Seeks Public Input In Planning Process For Bears Ears National Monument

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Dec. 4, 2017, President Donald Trump issued Proclamation 9681 modifying the boundary of the Bears Ears National Monument to the smallest area compatible with the proper care and management of important objects of historic and scientific interest.
 
This action is part of a larger effort by President Trump and the Department of the Interior to ensure that the broad powers granted to the President under the Antiquities Act are not used as a tool to unnecessarily restrict access to public land on a large scale.

The first New Mexico Book Co-op Lunch will be Jan. 26, 2018, at the Golden Corral on San Mateo near Cliff’s. Meeting starts at noon but people come early -11 a.m. – to eat and network. The meeting will open the 2018 12th Annual NM & AZ Book Awards.
