Friends of Los Alamos Pride (FLAP) announces that this year marks the sixth Los Alamos Pride Week (June 11-17) and fourth in-person Pride Festival. The festival is scheduled 3-7 p.m. Friday, June 16. The festival will take place on the lawn in Central Park Square (adjacent to Boese Bros. and the Y Express).

FBI: Woman Pleads Guilty After DUI Leads To Child’s Death

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced that Evelyn Bustamante has pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter.

Bustamante, 59, of Sanostee, N.M., and an enrolled member of the Navajo Nation, will remain on conditions of release pending sentencing, which has not been scheduled.

Pets Of The Week: Meet Muffin And Julius

Muffin was nearly strangled to death in a coyote snare two weeks ago. Upon arrival at Española Humane, his face and neck were so swollen he was hardly recognizable as a dog, and the shelter couldn’t even see the metal cable deeply embedded within the edema caused by strangulation. After sedating him, the shelter surgeon was able to cut through the metal cable to free his airway and neck. Thanks to quick thinking Good Samaritans and response by Animal Control officers, Muffin didn’t also suffer more life-threatening injuries or hemorrhaging – but he did require wound care and other treatments.
