FBI: Man Charged In San Felipe Shooting

FBI News:

ALBUQUERQUE — Alexander M.M. Uballez, United States Attorney for the District of New Mexico, and Raul Bujanda, Special Agent in Charge of the FBI Albuquerque Field Office, announced that Jeremiah Tenorio has been charged in connection with a shooting on the San Felipe Pueblo.

Tenorio, 26, and an enrolled member of the San Felipe Pueblo, appeared in federal court Nov. 28 for a detention hearing, facing charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, assault resulting in serious bodily injury, and discharging a firearm in relation to a crime of violence. 2022 Football 2-5A All-District Awards Announced

SPORTS News:

Below are the All-district awards for football this season.

The Los Alamos High School Hilltoppers had 10 selections on 1st team Offense, and 8 on 1st team defense.

Topper football won district for the first time since 2011. Teke Nieto also was selected to play in the NMHSCA All-Star game Dec. 3. 

All-State awards will be released in the coming weeks.

Central Avenue Drive Pad Construction Begins Dec. 5

COUNTY News:

Starting Monday, Dec. 5, contractors for Los Alamos County will be constructing drive pads at 1216 and 1407 Central Ave.

Motorists are asked to use Trinity Drive to access 1407 Central (Subway).

Motorists are asked to use the entrance on Knecht Street to access the following businesses:

  • Shannon Corporation;
  • The Karen Wray Gallery;
  • Los Alamos Daily Post; 
  • Atomic City Quilts;
  • David’s Barber Shop;
  • Mesa Top Games and Toys & L.A. Bootery; and
  • Boomerang.

This work is expected to be completed by Friday, Dec. 9.

County: RediNet Internet Access Remains Down

COUNTY News:

8:45 a.m.: RediNet internet access is still experiencing an outage.

There is no current time for when services will be back up, but the County IT Division is working closely with RediNet to assist in any way possible. 

County services that use RediNet will be unable to access the internet during this time.

Examples include:

  • MyDrive traffic cameras;
  • Public Wi-Fi at all County sites and downtown; and
  • Public library kiosks at both libraries.

Chamber Of Commerce To Host Grand Opening Of SALA Los Alamos Event Center Dec. 1

New Los Alamos business SALA Los Alamos Event Center is officially opening Thursday, Dec. 1. The community is invited to help celebrate SALA’s opening in the former Reel Deal Theater at 2551 Central Ave., with a Ribbon Cutting ceremony and many other activities 4-9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1.

Allan Saenz announced the purchase of the Reel Deal building in August. Saenz and co-owner Sammi Owens started an LLC called LA Angels Investment Co. to buy the building. The SALA Los Alamos Events Center will keep its former use while also making some changes.

New Mexico Unemployment Rate 4.3% In October 2022

NMDWS News:

New Mexico’s seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 4.3 percent in October, up from 4.2 percent in September and down from 6.1 percent in the previous year.

The national unemployment rate in October was 3.7 percent, up from 3.5 percent in September and down from 4.6 percent in October 2021.

Total nonagricultural payroll employment grew by 24,800 jobs, or 3.0 percent, between October 2021 and October 2022. The majority of gains came from the private sector, which was up 22,500 jobs, or 3.4 percent.
