SANTA FE — The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum welcomes Museum Studies Fellow-In-Residence Elaine Heumann Gurian Sept. 21 to Oct. 23.
 
The Georgia O’Keeffe Museum’s Museum Studies Fellowship Program appoints one museum professional per year for a month-long residency in Santa Fe. This year’s recipient is esteemed museum consultant and writer, academic, writer and lecturer in Museum Studies programs around the world.

Kristy Ortega, executive director of United Way of Northern New Mexico, recently provided the Rotary Club of Los Alamos with a preview of the United Way’s upcoming fundraising campaign.
 
During the regular club meeting Tuesday at Cottonwood on the Greens, Ortega explained that United Way operates its fundraising campaign in the fall and provides monies to nonprofits in Los Alamos and Rio Arriba counties in the spring.

Legal papers served in Washington July 14 asked Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz to investigate “substantial and specific danger to employees or to public health or safety” due to “technical failure and incidents” at the High Explosive Application Facility (HEAF) at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory.

Holy Ghost Canyon Under Closure Order

SANTA FE   Effective immediately, Holy Ghost Canyon on the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District on the Santa Fe National Forest is under a closure order to protect public health and safety during the reconstruction of Forest Road (FR) 122, also known as Holy Ghost Road. 
 
FR 122 was severely damaged by flooding after the 2013 Tres Lagunas Fire.
 
The restricted area includes land within 500 yards on either side of FR 122 including the Holy Ghost Summer Home Tract Area, the Holy Ghost campground and group site, and the trailhead accessed from FR 122.
