LINDA ETTINGER June 16, 1960 – June 11, 2015
 
Linda Ettinger, daughter of June and Harry Ettinger, was born in Washington, D.C., June 16, 1960 and moved to Los Alamos, NM with her family at the age of 1 where she lived most of her life. 
 
Linda passed away at Promise Hospital in Salt Lake City, UT on June 11, 2015, just shy of her 55th birthday.

After graduating from Los Alamos High School, Linda attended UC Santa Barbara and received a Bachelor’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. She later obtained a Master’s degree from

Letter To The Editor: ‘Our System Is Supposed To Be A Constitutional Republic, NOT A Democracy!’

I must write to correct Joel Williams in his letter to the editor titled, “Our System Is Supposed To Be A Democracy.”

The United States was founded as a Constitutional Republic. No where in our founding fathers’ writings can be found the word “democracy.”

But, Benjamin Franklin expressed it most succinctly, “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch. Liberty is a well-armed lamb contesting the vote.”

WASHINGTON, D.C. U.S. Sen. Tom Udall, Ranking Member of the U.S. Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies, voted to oppose the inadequate funding and dangerous poison pill riders on the subcommittee’s Fiscal Year 2016 funding bill.

The Los Alamos High School Golf Team (LAJGA) will hold a Club Swap fundraiser 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Sunday June 21, at the new golf course community building, to benefit the Los Alamos Junior Golf Association. 
 
Coach Andy Ainsworth loves his kids, their folks and especially Sheldon and Carrie Apgar who are donating a lot of time to benefit the project. The LAJGA volunteer directors are described as, “Great folks,” by Ainsworth.

Gallinas Canyon Road Now Under Repair

SANTA FE  The Federal Highway Administration has begun repair work on Forest Road (FR) 263 in Gallinas Canyon on the Pecos/Las Vegas Ranger District of the Santa Fe National Forest.  
 
FR 263 and the E.V. Long Campground next to Gallinas Creek have been closed to the public due to severe damage from monsoonal flooding in 2013. The repair work on both FR 263 and the campground is expected to continue for the next three months.
