In a long career in law enforcement and civil service, William D. Norris, Sr., was known to always do what was right, champion the underdog, and for asking: “How about those Cowboys?” a reference to his favorite football team.

Bill died suddenly at his Santa Fe home Monday, June 22, 2020. He had spent the previous day, Father’s Day, enjoying his favorite food, laughing and celebrating his family. He was always a man with a smile and a joke. He was 85.

Betty’s Birthday Benefit Raises Funds For Senior Centers

The Betty’s Birthday Benefit raised $447.51 for the Los Alamos and White Rock senior centers. A grant through Los Alamos MainStreet helped the nonprofit promote the event. LARSO agreed that every penny raised would be spent at Los Alamos and White Rock businesses. Gifts for the birthday drawing were donated by Lisa Hudston, Florence Riebe and Aimee Kern Neu. Shooting Involves Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office

SANTA FE — At around 11:32 p.m. Tuesday, June 9, the New Mexico State Police (NMSP) Investigations Bureau was asked to investigate a police shooting involving the Santa Fe County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred at a residence at 17715C U.S. Highway 84/285 West Frontage Road north of Santa Fe.

State Supreme Court Stops Consumer Debt Collection Orders To Help New Mexicans During Public Health Emergency

SANTA FE  — The state Supreme Court Friday provided temporary protections for New Mexicans in consumer debt cases from having wages withheld and some of their assets taken to repay creditors during the current public health emergency and economic downturn.

The Court suspended the issuance of new writs of garnishment and writs of execution for consumer debt collection in district, magistrate and metropolitan court cases effective today, June 8.

The suspension will remain in effect until a further order of the state’s highest court.
