NMDGF: Hemorrhagic Disease Cause Of Rabbit Deaths

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish (Department) and the New Mexico Livestock Board report that Rabbit Hemorrhagic Disease Virus type 2 (RHDV-2) is the cause for recent rabbit deaths in both wild jackrabbit and cottontail populations as well as in domestic rabbit production facilities.

RHDV-2 is highly contagious among rabbits; however, it is not known to be transmissible to humans or pets. RHDV-2 is from a different viral family from the coronavirus and is not related to COVID-19.

DVS Field Office Assisting Veterans Exclusively Via Telework

SANTA FE — Effective March 24, all field offices of the New Mexico Department of Veterans Services (DVS) will temporarily postpone in-person office visits by veterans–and will instead provide veterans’ benefits assistance via telephone, video conference, or e-mail.

All previously-scheduled in-office visits will be rescheduled.

The move is to comply with Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham’s statewide directive this afternoon directing state agencies to further help minimize the spread of the COVID-19/Novel Coronavirus.

Early Childhood Education Department Offers Guidance To Child Care Providers Amidst ‘Stay At Home’ Order

SANTA FE — New Mexico Early Childhood Education and Care Secretary Elizabeth Groginsky commented Monday on Gov. Lujan Grisham’s “stay at home” order.

The order, which goes into effect at 8 a.m. today, March 24, requires all non-essential businesses to close and limit activities for New Mexicans outside of their homes. The goal of the order is to limit the spread of COVID-19.

State Boards & Commissions Division Suspends Requirement For Continuing Education Due To COVID-19

SANTA FE — Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the New Mexico Regulation and Licensing Department’s Boards and Commissions Division is suspending the requirement for proof of continuing education for those who have licensure expiration dates through July 31, 2020.

Once the restrictions have been lifted, licensees will have specified period of time to submit their continuing education credits to their applicable board.
