The Boys’ and Girls’ varsity soccer teams were on the road this past weekend for the Albuquerque Academy tournament, where each team played three games.

Eight girl and eight boy teams from around the state participated in the event.
The boys lost their first game Thursday to Cleveland 0-3, but came back strong Friday to dominate Farmington 4-0.

Saturday’s final game against Santa Fe Prep was an evenly matched battle, ending in a shootout. Read More

County Housing Survey Closes Friday

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County’s housing survey will close Friday regarding housing needs and preferences. Those individuals who live and work in Los Alamos County are invited to take the survey. A priority Strategic Goal of Council and of the Economic Vitality Strategic Plan is to increase the amount and types of housing options in the County. Survey questions are designed to assess local housing needs. Responses will help the County plan for new housing over the next 10 years.

Boese Brothers Brewery To Have Soft Opening Saturday And Sunday

Sam and George Boese, owners Boese Brothers Brewery at 145 Central Park Square, received their certificate of occupancy and will have a soft opening Saturday and Sunday. The brewery will be open 5-10 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and will operate during regular hours starting Monday.

Los Alamos Police Department Conducts Traffic Enforcement Operation Through October

LAPD News:
 
Continuing through the month of October, the Los Alamos Police Department will conduct traffic enforcement, focusing on accident related violations.

Officers also will be on the lookout for impaired drivers and conduct random DWI checkpoints throughout the County during this time frame.

The public can help reduce the risk of vehicle crashes by adhering to posted speed limit signs, allowing enough room between them and the vehicle they are following and driving with caution when roadways are wet.

Taste Of Knowledge Event Is Sold Out; Online Silent Auction Is Open To Everyone

The Los Alamos Public Schools Foundation has announced that its popular fundraiser, A Taste of Knowledge, has sold out for the third year in a row.
 
The LAPS Foundation partners with Pig + Fig Café to put on the wine and food pairing event, which raises money for all Los Alamos Public Schools. It’s not too late to participate, however. This year the silent auction is all online, and so even non-event goers can place their bids on auction items at www.tok.givesmart.com.
