Local Shop For The Cure Yard Sale Fundraiser May 15-16

COMMUNITY News:

The fourth annual yard sale to raise funds for breast cancer will be held 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, May 15, and Saturday, May 16, at 390 Connie Ave. in White Rock.

Anyone interested in donating items for the yard sale may drop them off by the garage door at 390 Connie Ave. before May 12. Please only contribute clean, gently used, saleable items.

UPDATE: Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office Closing NM 502 Due To Crash

UPDATE: N.M. 502 has reopened to traffic in both directions.

LAPD News:

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) is sharing the following information related to the N.M. 502 closure:

The Santa Fe Sheriff’s Office has notified Los Alamos Police that they will be closing N.M. 502 in both directions at mile marker 13 due to a head-on collision with injuries. 

The crash is located about 3 miles east of N.M. 30 and 2 miles west of Pojoaque High School. 

It is unknown how long the closure will remain in effect.  Commuters are encouraged to seek an alternate route and to expect delays. Read More

County Golf Course Restaurant Prepares To Open

Maintenance and repair work at the Los Alamos County Golf Course building has been completed, marking a significant step toward reopening the restaurant to the public.

The restaurant is expected to begin operations on June 1, 2026; however, this date remains contingent upon final inspections and permits.

The LAHS Track & Field teams completed their regular season in fine fashion at the Larry Baca Memorial Invitational (aka Home Meet) at Sullivan Field in Los Alamos on Saturday, May 2.  The Hilltopper Girls won the meet with score of 134-45 over 4A rival Artesia.  The Boys were second to Artesia, 97-129.  There were 14 teams competing.

We, the Los Alamos community and surrounding areas, want to keep labor and delivery (L&D) open at the Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC). It has been devastating news for many in our community to learn of the closure as, for our community members it is not safer or better for pregnant or laboring women to be forced to travel outside of Los Alamos through cellphone dead zones.
