The exhibit features figurative oil paintings by Beverly Branch. There are 39 large portraits showcases women and their families who live on the mesa west of Taos and Pilar whose homes are not connected to the power grid.

Los Alamos Police Arrest 4 During Operation L.E.A.D
The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) Criminal Investigations Unit arrested four people this morning, June 18, during Operation L.E.A.D (Law Enforcement Against Drugs), a LAPD drug sweep.
The operation began around 7 a.m. and resulted from four months of work by the department’s Criminal Investigation Unit.

County Invites Community To BMX Track Listening Session
COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Parks and Open Space Division is seeking feedback from the community for the proposed BMX track on North Mesa. With a new project manager and new contractor, Actions Sports Design, the project team is starting fresh with a listening session.
Community members are invited to meet the new team and provide input at 6 p.m. Thursday, June 20 at Fuller Lodge, 2132 Central Ave.

Bandelier National Monument is beginning its free summer shuttle service to Frijoles Canyon on June 27, 2024.
The shuttle, provided by Atomic City Transit, boards at the White Rock Visitor Center. It is mandatory from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily except for those who meet one of the following exceptions:
- Has a disability placard displayed on their vehicle
- Are traveling with pets
- Conducting park-related business
- Organized commercial tour groups traveling in their own bus or van
- Are camping
ACT Suspends Route 2M Due To Driver Shortage
Due to an extreme driver shortage, Atomic City Transit (ACT) suspended operations of Route 2M beginning at 3:05 p.m. today, June 13 through Friday, June 14.
Passengers needing to travel to White Rock from downtown should board Route 1 and transfer to Route 2T at the Transit Center.
ACT apologizes for the short notice and inconvenience.

Council Unanimously Oks Revised Animal Code Ordinance

Los Alamos County Council unanimously approved a revised animal code ordinance at its meeting Tuesday night in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Ave.
The revised ordinance reflects the feedback Council provided to county staff in March, based on input received from the community.
An overview of the revisions listed in the staff report includes the following:
- Removes all provisions of the code that are shelter policies.
Allows the Police Chief to develop and promulgate rules and policies on shelter
Due To Staff Shortage ACT To Suspend Route 2M
Due to staff shortage, Atomic City Transit (ACT) will suspend operations of Route 2M beginning Friday, June 21 until further notice. Please use Route 2T during this time.
ACT did receive feedback asking to consider suspending Route 2T instead of 2M should the need arise, since 2M provides a more direct route downtown.
After much deliberation, several factors influenced the decision to cancel Route 2M over 2T:
- Route 2T connects to all routes at the Transit Center, while 2M does not connect to Route 6 during non-peak times or Route 5
- Route 2T provides service to more areas in White Rock,
Atomic City Transit Service Schedule On Juneteenth Holiday
Atomic City Transit (ACT) has announced that fixed route bus service will not operate on Wednesday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
ACT will operate a Dial a Ride Service 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. that day but passengers must call (505) 661-RIDE (7433) to schedule a ride on a first come first serve basis beginning at 5:45 a.m. Monday June 17. The last call to reserve a ride is 5:15 p.m.
Please have the following information available when scheduling a ride:
- Rider’s name
- Pick-up and drop off locations; and
- Phone number.
