Wednesday, Nov. 15, is the last day to see “A Drawing Show: the Backbone of Art” at Step Up Gallery in Mesa Public Library. Many different drawing media are represented in the 52 pieces of art in the exhibit, including drawing pencil, colored pencils, graphite, charcoal, pen and ink, pastel pencil, markers, conte sticks and scratchboard.

Section Of 43rd Closing For Sewer Work Nov. 13-Dec. 13

COUNTY News:

A short section of 43rd Street off Urban Street will be closed for sewer system work Nov. 13 through Dec. 13. The closure will be in front of the properties at 2149, 2159, 2164 and 2177.

A new sewer main will be placed in the work zone. The work, to be done by Parker Construction on behalf of the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will take place during business hours. Steel plates will be placed on the road in the work zone for emergency access afterhours.

UAMPS & NuScale Agree To Terminate CFPP

Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) and NuScale Power Corporation (NuScale) (NYSE: SMR) announced on Wednesday that they have mutually agreed to terminate the Carbon Free Power Project (CFPP).

Despite significant efforts by both parties to advance the CFPP, it appears unlikely that the project will have enough subscription to continue toward deployment. Therefore, UAMPS and NuScale have mutually determined that ending the project is the most prudent decision for both parties.

The unofficial results of Tuesday’s Los Alamos County 2023 Regular Local Election show voters chose Lauren Coupland to fill the District 3 vacancy on the School Board and Kristin Henderson and John Pawlak to seats on the UNM-LA Advisory Board.

The New Mexico Secretary of State’s Office indicates that Coupland garnered 39 percent of the vote over incumbent Christine Bernstein at 32 percent and opponent Sean Stanfield with 29 percent.
