As part of the 33rd/34th Street Road Improvement Project, the intersection of 33rd and Villa Street will be fully closed June 20-23.
Residents will need to take the alternate route through 32nd Street, then Walnut Street and back to Villa Street through the 33rd/34th loop.

First Judicial District Attorney’s Office Hires Elizabeth (Liz) Counce As Prosecutor For Los Alamos County
After more than two years of searching, the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office has hired prosecutor Elizabeth (Liz) Counce for Los Alamos County.
“We have tried for two years to get someone in the position that both lived in and understood the community and we are so pleased to have found her!” District Attorney Mary Carmack-Altwies said.

Atomic City Transit To Observe Juneteenth Holiday

Los Alamos County’s Atomic City Transit (ACT) has announced that fixed route bus service will not operate Monday, June 19 in observance of the Juneteenth holiday.
ACT will operate a Dial a Ride Service 6 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and residents must call (505) 661-RIDE (7433) beginning at 5:45 a.m. Monday to schedule a ride on a first come first served basis. The last call is 5:15 p.m. to reserve a ride.

County: Trail Closures Scheduled For Bayo Canyon Access Trail Improvements

County: Walnut Street Closure And Disruption Of Water Service Scheduled For June 15

Walnut Street will be closed Thursday, June 15, approximately 200 feet east of the intersection with 33rd Street for a utility connection in the roadway.
The closure will begin at 7 a.m. and remain in place until 4 p.m. Please take the alternate route through 32nd Street then Villa Street and back to 33rd Street.
Additionally, the utility connection will require a water shut off 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

County Mowing Operation On Diamond From Golf Course Entrance To San Ildefonso Road At Roundabout Friday
Los Alamos Traffic & Streets Division crews will be mowing the area on the south side of Diamond Drive, from west of the entrance to the Golf Course to San Ildefonso Road (roundabout) Friday, June 16.
Work is scheduled from 8 a.m. until completed.
Crews will shut down the eastbound lane from west of the entrance to the Golf Course to the roundabout. Bicyclists should expect a dedicated route within the work zone. Vehicle traffic will use the left eastbound lane. Motorists are urged to slow down and watch for crews and bicycle traffic.

County: Gas Repair Underway Near Lemon Lot
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) crews are repairing a leak on a natural gas main on the northwest corner of Diamond Drive and Trinity Drive.
The leak is on a main line running under a gravel area near the end of the lemon lot.
Crews from DPU’s Gas, Water and Sewer division closed the sidewalk and put traffic cones in place around the work area. Drivers are asked to drive cautiously near the work zone.
At this point in time, crews do not expect any customers to lose gas service during the emergency repair. The repair is expected to be complete by 6 p.m. today.

The Los Alamos Police Department (LAPD) reported this evening that the large black bear spotted today in the area of Pruitt Avenue in White Rock has been captured.

Recently, County staff have received six complaints of bicyclists (or the same bicyclist) passing walkers unsafely on Canyon Rim Trail.
