Road Striping Project On Central Begins Monday Dec. 19

COUNTY News:

Weather permitting, Los Alamos County Traffic and Streets crews will be laying out and striping the roadway on Central Avenue, between 15th Street and Oppenheimer beginning Dec. 19 until complete.

Crews will begin work at 8 a.m. and finish by 3:30 p.m. daily.

There will be a flagging operation in place. Please obey the flaggers and crew as they guide you through the work zone.

Pathology Consultants Of New Mexico COVID-19 Testing Resumes In Los Alamos Until Dec.16 – Then In White Rock

COUNTY News:

Pathology Consultants of New Mexico (PCNM) has resumed its drive thru PCR COVID-19 testing service 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. until Friday, Dec. 16 in the Mari Mac Village shopping center parking lot at 759 Central Ave.

Beginning Monday Dec. 19, PCNM will move its testing site to White Rock Town Hall at 139 Longview Dr. in White Rock. Hours remain 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Monday through Friday.

No appointments are necessary, but individuals are asked to bring their insurance card. For those uninsured, PCNM does charge $99 per test. PCR test results are provided within 48-72 hours. For more information, Read More

The FCC has created a new map showing where high-speed service is – and is not – available across the country. Consumers, state, local and Tribal government entities, and other stakeholders can help verify the accuracy of the data shown on the map by filing challenges.

Leisure Lagoon Opening Dec. 20 For Winter Break

COUNTY News:

The long awaited opening of the Leisure Lagoon is here, just in time for Christmas!

Beginning Dec. 20 and running through Jan. 3, 2023, the Leisure Lagoon will be open to the public 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Capacities will be limited to 75 people at a time within the Leisure Lagoon.

This winter break schedule will allow staff to fine tune operations of the new facility and to work through any unknown issues that may arise.

Los Alamos County Seeks Insights To Improve Website

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County awarded a contract to Granicus, LLC to redesign and host the Los Alamos County government website to launch in late July 2023. The county project team is asking web users to take a short survey and share experiences (positive or negative) in navigating and finding information on the existing county website.

This information will inform the team on a new design that is more user-friendly.

Fiber Optic Cable Cut Blamed For Internet/Cell Outage

Staff Report:

Initial response to calls into both Los Alamos County and the police department indicate that the cause of the internet and cell phone outage that plagued the townsite Sunday was caused by a cut to a fiber optic cable north of Santa Fe. 

The County said that this cable feeds the T-Moble and Verizon towers.

The cable was cut sometime overnight Saturday into Sunday but by whom and under what circumstances remains unclear.
