Fraser: A Unique Opportunity For Better Broadband
On Saturday, local online newspapers republished a Los Alamos County news release (link) announcing the mailing of a survey “to assess broadband availability, affordability, and accessibility throughout the county” to a randomly selected sample of households.
While I have only seen the draft of the survey that was presented at the June 28 County Council meeting, I believe that the survey will be the key to assessing the community’s need and desire for better broadband service in Los Alamos County.

The Los Alamos Fire Department (LAFD) held a physical agility testing event Saturday morning at Station 2 on DP Road. Each department member was tasked with and evaluated on completing five tests. CTC Technology and Energy, under contract to Los County, has printed a comprehensive survey to assess broadband availability, affordability, and accessibility throughout the county.
The survey was dropped into the mail Friday and should reach mailboxes of a randomly selected group of households representing a statistically valid sample by Sept. 30.

Water Repairs On Iris Street Scheduled For Monday
COUNTY News:
Gas, Water, and Sewer crews from the Los Alamos County Department of Public Utilities (DPU) will be working on a water leak on Iris Street and drivers should expect to see traffic controls in place 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26.
Signs warning motorists of the road closure will be placed at the corner of Iris Street and 6th Street.
A short section of Iris Street will be closed near the middle of the block. DPU crews will restrict traffic to only those residents who live on Iris Street.

County Customer Care Closing For 90 Minutes Tuesday

The lobby-facing windows at the Los Alamos County Customer Care Center in the Municipal Building will be closed for 90 minutes during the business day Tuesday, Sept. 27, between 11:30 a.m. and 1:00 p.m., while staff meets with the automated metering contractor for the Department of Public Utilities.
