All Barranca Mesa and North Mesa customers have power again after a lightning strike took out electric service for about 1,600 residents around 2 p.m. today.

County Releases Final Draft Of Chapter 18 Nuisance Code

After a year of soliciting feedback, public meetings, a technical review, and a community survey, representatives from the Los Alamos County Community Development Department (CDD) and its contractor Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (DPS) have completed a final draft of the Chapter 18 nuisance code.
The final draft of the Chapter 18 nuisance code is now released to the public and available to be viewed online at https://www.lacchp18update.org/.

Los Alamos County has announced that a portion of the White Rock Visitor Center parking lot will be closed Monday through Friday, July 25-29, to prepare the area for the installation of the County’s first Level 3 DC fast charger for electric vehicles.
While the 65-kW charger has not yet been delivered and will be installed at a later date, a Department of Public Utilities (DPU) contractor will be trenching in the parking lot to install electrical conduits and placing a concrete pad in preparation for the charger installation.

DPU Postpones Public Hearing For Gas Rate Adjustments

The first of two public hearings on proposed natural gas rate adjustments by the Department of Public Utilities (DPU) has been moved to the next Board of Public Utilities (BPU) work session Aug. 3.
Originally scheduled for July 20 via Zoom, the hearing was postponed due to an Xfinity internet outage that affected residents and businesses throughout Los Alamos County. If the BPU approves the rate ordinance Aug. 3, a second hearing will be held Aug. 30 at the Los Alamos County Council meeting.
