The hope to add to Los Alamos County’s lodging offerings as well as to provide a conference center has been dashed. During Tuesday night’s regular Los Alamos County Council meeting, an ordinance was introduced to terminate the project with TNJLA, LLC.

Sirphey Files $5 Million Lawsuit Against Los Alamos County And 24 Others

Sirphey, LLC, which includes Owner Prashant Jain and Communication Director Cortni Nucklos, filed a $5 million federal lawsuit June 22 against Los Alamos County, several of its entities, and individuals in County government and in the community.
The lawsuit stems from a County issued stop work order Sirphey received November 2019 for property it previously leased at 813 Central Ave., in Mari Mac Shopping Center.
Jain and Nucklos declined to comment on this pending litigation.

The future for the former Women’s Army Corp (WAC) building, 1725 17 St., is getting clearer after Los Alamos County Council voted 6-1 on a design option for the building during its regular meeting Tuesday night.
Councilor David Reagor opposed the motion to approve the option. He said it was too soon to take any action on the project because there are too many questions that need to be answered and he would like to see more options about what could be done to the building.

Canyon Rim Trail Partially Closed Due To Construction

The Canyon Rim Trail and Parking lot will be closed for corrective work to the trail starting today, July 13 through July 19.
The trail closure will begin at the intersection with Entrada Drive and will extend south of NM 502 (East Road) to the trail T-Intersection and parking lot area. Access to the underpass will not be permitted during this time.

Time Change Update: Oversized Portable Classroom Transport From Mountain To Aspen July 14

Update: Transport time changed to 2 p.m. Thursday.

Desert Wind Transport is working with Los Alamos Public Schools to transport an oversized portable classroom at 10 a.m. July 14 from Mountain Elementary School to Aspen Elementary School.
The contractor is asking residents who live along 38th Street or Villa Street to avoid parking vehicles on the west side of 38th and the south side of Villa July 14. Rather, it is preferred that vehicles be parked off the streets in residents’ respective driveways to clear a path for the oversized load to move along the route.

Over the next few months, crews with R&M Construction will be performing maintenance on the exterior of Fuller Lodge.
Crews will begin mobilizing equipment to the site today, July 13 with work to follow shortly thereafter.
