Meeting Canceled Tonight: Community Services Integrated Master Plan Survey Findings – Due To County-wide Comcast/Xfinity Internet Outage

COUNTY News:

Due to the county-wide Comcast/Xfinity internet outage, the Los Alamos County Community Services Department (CSD) is regretfully canceling tonight’s Zoom meeting scheduled for 5:30 p.m. (July 20) to share results from the Integrated Community Services Master Plan. 

CSD indicates that the meeting will be rescheduled in the near future. 

The meeting for 5:30 p.m. Thursday (July 21) is still scheduled as planned. The meeting is open to the public and interested individuals may join the Thursday meeting using this Zoom link: https://us06web.zoom.us/j/84314403142

The 48th Annual Los Alamos County Triathlon will be held Saturday, July 23, this is a sprint triathlon with a unique format of bike, swim, and run.

County Releases Chapter 16 – Module 3 Development Code

Los Alamos County Development Department (CDD) and its consultant, Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (DPS) released the last of the three modules (Module 3) to update the Chapter 16 Development Code today for the public to review.

Community Invited To Clean Up Los Alamos Day Aug. 20

Environmental Services and the Environmental Sustainability Board invites the community to participate in the 19th Annual Clean Up Los Alamos Day Saturday, Aug. 20, 2022.

Clean Up LA Day is where residents and businesses volunteer to pick up litter throughout the County. Volunteers are encouraged to pick a location around the community to clean and make beautiful.

Locations can range from a favorite park, walking trail or around the neighborhood.

Los Alamos County’s Community Development Department (CDD) will hold three meetings to present the draft Metropolitan Redevelopment Area (MRA) Plan to redevelop three locations in White Rock to stimulate economic and community development.

The three properties include the area adjacent to the Del Norte Credit Union on Rover Boulevard, the Longview neighborhood, and the vacant McDonalds/Time Out Pizzeria on N.M. 4.

Lightning Strike Ignites Dead Tree Behind Quemazon

At about 12:45 p.m. Thursday, lightning struck a dead tree behind Quemazon in upper Pueblo Canyon. Despite the rainstorm, a small fire started that was still burning at 8 a.m. today. Los Alamos Fire Department firefighters responded to the scene at about 1:15 a.m. today and monitored the fire throughout the night.
