The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has announced the approval of boosters for eligible individuals for all three vaccines available in the U.S., including Pfizer, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.

Moreover, those eligible individuals may mix and match the vaccine booster of their choice.

Los Alamos County Council And CDD Staff Seek Public Input On Cannabis Retail Ordinance At Virtual Town Hall Nov. 8

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County Council and Community Development Department (CDD) staff will host a Virtual Town Hall 5:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 8 to hear from the public regarding the proposed Cannabis Retail Ordinance.

This ordinance has been recommended for approval by the Planning and Zoning Commission.

The County Council and County staff are seeking public input before this recommended ordinance is considered by the County Council.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update Nov. 2: 675 New Cases, Totaling 278,509, 12 New Deaths, 245,516 Recovered

STATE News:

SANTA FE — State health officials announced 675 new COVID-19 cases today in New Mexico.

Los Alamos County reported 2 new cases today, bringing the total to 809 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)

This update includes 12 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.

Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:

  • 175 new cases in Bernalillo County
  • 2 new cases in Catron County
  • 5 new cases in Chaves County
  • 6 new cases in Cibola County

Lane Drop On N.M. 4 At E. Jemez Road Begins Wednesday

COUNTY News:

Beginning Wednesday, RMCI, under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU), will close the right turn lane for southbound traffic on N.M. 4 at the East Jemez Road intersection. 

The lane closure will continue for one to two weeks in support of a 16-inch water line replacement project.

Motorists will still be able to turn right onto East Jemez from the center lane. Traffic delays should be anticipated.

Man Dies In Motorcycle Accident Near Diamond Roundabout

Los Alamos police and firefighters respond to the scene of what appears to be a single motorcycle accident in which a Los Alamos man died this evening near the roundabout on Diamond Drive. Cmdr. Oliver Morris told the Los Alamos Daily Post this evening that it appears the man lost control of his motorcycle, crashed and died at the scene. The Office of the Medical Investigator arrived on scene. The LAPD Crash Team was called in and is investigating the cause of the crash. Cmdr. County Halts Concrete & Asphalt Recycling Until Dec. 1

Los Alamos Environmental Services is working on issuing a new contractual agreement to continue the concrete and asphalt recycling operation.

Until this contract is in place, Los Alamos County Eco Station will not accept concrete or asphalt for recycling or disposal until Dec. 1.
