Julie Williams-Hill from the Department of Public Utilities is the new Public Information Officer for Los Alamos County. She begins her new position today, Nov. 14.
Danielle Duran is the new Intergovernmental Affairs Manager. Duran has a bachelor’s degree in Public Policy Economics from Trinity University and an MBA from the University of New Mexico. Julie Williams-Hill, the longtime Public Information Officer (PIO) for the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, has been named the new PIO for Los Alamos County.
She replaces Julie Habiger who retired in August after serving in the position for nearly 21 years.
Williams-Hill officially begins her new job Sunday, Nov. 14.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update Nov. 11-12: 3,524 New Cases, Totaling 292,078 With 21 New Deaths And 252,155 Recovered
STATE News:SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials announced 3,524 additional COVID-19 cases From Thursday and today.
Los Alamos County reports 9 new cases between Nov. 11 and 12, bringing the total to 845 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 21 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 927 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 4 new cases in Catron County
- 103 new cases

Broken Gas Stub Out Repair Underway On Aster Street

Issues with supply chains and labor shortages have driven up costs across the board, including the estimated cost for the new White Rock Water Resource Reclamation Facility (WRRF).
As a result, the Los Alamos County Council approved 6-0 to authorize the utilities manager to amend the final loan documents with the New Mexico Environment Department Clean Water State Revolving Fund and return to council for approval. SANTA FE — New Mexico state health officials announced 1,137 additional COVID-19 cases today.
Los Alamos County reports zero new cases today so the total remains 831 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 11 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 416 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 3 new cases in Catron County

Moderna Boosters At Two Local Vaccine Clinics Sunday
COUNTY News:
Los Alamos County, the New Mexico Department of Health (NMDOH) and Trinity Urgent Care are administering the Moderna booster Sunday, Nov. 14 for select populations who have received their primary series (first two doses of Moderna or Pfizer) or to anyone 18 years or older who received the single dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
The two vaccine clinics administering Moderna boosters include:
- A walk-in clinic in Los Alamos; and
- A drive-through clinic in White Rock.

Canyon Rim Trail Underpass Closure Moved To Nov. 10

COUNTY News:
Crews are unable to work on the Canyon Rim Trail Underpass today so the temporary closure is rescheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 10.
Workers will reseed and mulch areas disturbed during construction. The trail head parking lot and the rest of the Canyon Rim Trail will remain open.
