Asphalt/Concrete Repairs Begin Around Los Alamos County
COUNTY News:
Under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU), GM Emulsion will begin repairs to emergency utility asphalt and concrete cuts that occurred during the winter.
Crews will rotate to various locations throughout White Rock and Los Alamos neighborhoods beginning as soon as Friday, Oct. 22 and continue throughout the month. Some minor traffic delays are expected.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update Oct. 16-18: 1,895 New Cases, Totaling 265,632, 12 New Deaths, 236,245 Recovered
STATE News:
SANTA FE — State health officials announced 1,895 new cases COVID-19 cases between Saturday, Oct. 16 and Monday Oct. 18 in New Mexico.
Los Alamos County reported 14 new cases During the last three days, bringing the total to 780 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
This update includes 12 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
Per the state Department of Health, the most recent cases are:
- 379 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 3 new cases

Los Alamos County Council is hosting a Sign Unveiling Ceremony at 2 p.m. today to recognize the Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos and celebrate the history and creation of the Los Alamos Project Main Gate Park.
In 1943, the Main Gate Park site was the east entry gate to the “secret city” of Los Alamos during the Manhattan Project. Credentials were required to enter there until 1957.

County: Natural Gas Prices May Be High This Winter

Officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) advise its natural gas customers that prices may be high this winter.
The U.S. Energy Information Administration reports that the Henry Hub natural gas spot price traded at over $5 per dekatherm in September and appears to be on an upward trend. Historically, the price at this time of year has hovered around $2 to $3 per dekatherm.
