Water Line Break: Big Rock Loop On North Mesa

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities water crews are responding to a water line break on Big Rock Loop west of Stoneview Drive in the North Mesa neighborhood.

Customers in the vicinity may experience low water pressure this afternoon as crews work to repair the line.

Excavation will occur on the southwest corner of the Big Rock Loop and Stoneview intersection with minimal impacts to traffic at the construction zone. Department officials estimate that by 8 p.m. the repairs to be completed.

County Council Seeks Applicants For Board Of Registration

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos County Council is seeking applicants to fill a two-year term on the local Board of Registration, which also serves as the Canvassing Committee after elections.

There will be five members appointed to this Board with no more than two members appointed from any political party.

Consideration and appointment of applicants for the Board of Registration has been placed on the Council’s 6 p.m. June 8 meeting agenda. A call for letters of interest is now open and letters are due to the County Manager no later than 5 p.m. Thursday, May 20.

Public Comment On Downtown Masterplans Until May 24

Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (DPS) and the Los Alamos County Community Development Department hosted an informational meeting May 6 to present the draft Downtown Master Plans for both Los Alamos and White Rock to the community.

Informed by the numerous public meetings to date, these plans contain a vision, goals and recommendations for each Downtown area.

DPS presented each Downtown vision and provided an overview of the major recommendations for each area, including proposed changes within the Phase 2 Development Code Update.

Car Goes Over Wall On Diamond, Driver Has Minor Injuries

Los Alamos police officers responded to the scene of an accident around 3 p.m. today in which a vehicle careened over a wall at Diamond Drive and 38th Street. LAPD told the Los Alamos Daily Post that the driver, a female in her late teens or early 20s, was the only occupant in the vehicle. She appeared to have had a medical episode that caused the accident, police said, adding that she was transported with minor injuries to Los Alamos Medical Center by LAFD’s EMS personnel.
