Los Alamos Kiwanians and Los Alamos High School Key Clubbers turned out Saturday morning, April 24, for Clean Up Los Alamos Day to pick up trash at Entrance Park (formerly known as Sunrise Kiwanis Park).
There wasn’t much trash at the park so several Kiwanians went across N.M. 502 and picked up trash on the south side.

New Mexico COVID-19 Update: 309 New Cases, Total 197,733 With 9 New Deaths And 178,593 Recovered
STATE News:
SANTA FE – New Mexico Department of Health officials announced today 309 new COVID-19 cases.
Los Alamos County reports zero new cases today so the total remains at 518 people who have tested positive for COVID-19. (County totals are subject to change upon further investigation and determination of residency of individuals positive for COVID-19.)
Today’s update includes 9 new deaths in New Mexico related to COVID-19.
The New Mexico Department of Health reports the most recent cases:
- 127 new cases in Bernalillo County
- 10 new cases in Chaves County
- 1 new case in Colfax County
- 3 new cases

County Airport Terminal Building Closed To Public, Pilots
COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Airport Terminal Building will continue to be closed to the public.
The County is taking advantage of the terminal building being cleared out to make some improvements by painting the interior and move some of the equipment typically inside of a modular office to a more secure location within the building.
This equipment controls the AWOS system and the Runway lighting. This “sprucing up” will continue through May.

Officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities remind water customers that water rule W-8 and peak season water rates both begin Saturday, May 1 and continue through Sept. 30.
Water rule W-8 specifies that customers water outdoor landscapes before 10 a.m. or after 5 p.m. and adhere to an odd-even watering schedule. Customers with odd numbered addresses water Sundays, Wednesdays and Fridays, while customers with even numbered addresses water Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Public Meeting On Downtown Master Plan Drafts May 6

Dekker/Perich/Sabatini (DPS) and the Los Alamos County Community Development Department will host an informational meeting to present the draft Downtown Master Plans for both Los Alamos and White Rock.
Informed by the numerous public meetings to date, these plans contain a vision, goals and recommendations for each Downtown area.
