Atomic City Transit After School Routes Begin Oct. 19
COUNTY News:
Atomic City Transit is announces that Express Routes 7(C) – North Mesa, Route 8 – North Community, Route 9 – Aspen Area, Route 10 – Barranca Mesa and Route 11 – White Rock Area will resume operations beginning Monday, Oct. 19, the same day as the beginning of Los Alamos Public Schools Hybrid Attendance Model for elementary schools.
Rides on the Express Routes must be requested in advance using the Dial-A-Ride reservation system. Express Routes will operate as a reservation only service every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday.

The League of Women Voters of Los Alamos hosted all six candidates vying for thee seats on the Los Alamos County Council at a forum Monday evening via Zoom.
The Zoom channel hit its maximum of 100 viewers for the event. The Chamber of Commerce also hosted the candidates Oct. 1.

Los Alamos Among 24 Counties In New Mexico Now Eligible For Expanded Nursing Home Visitation Options

SANTA FE — In August 2020, state officials, under the leadership of Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham, announced new guidelines for long-term care facilities to expand COVID-safe visitation options for residents and loved ones.
Monday, the state announced facilities in Los Alamos and 23 other counties in New Mexico are eligible, based on COVID-positivity rates in their region.
Expanded visitation options include masked open-window visits and masked “chatterbox” visits for residents and their loved ones to ensure the safety of residents and facility staff workers.

Los Alamos County reminds residents that the Community Inclusion and Racial Equity Survey will close this Friday, Oct. 9.
The survey is available online here.
Results will be shared with the community once available and will be informational data that is part of upcoming Council discussions about this important topic at a Council meeting in late October/early November.

LAPD Nabs Suspect In Political Sign Theft; Damage Caper

The Los Alamos Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Section summonsed Joseph Fawcett, 39, of White Rock today on Petty Larceny and Damage to Public or Private Property charges.
The summons resulted from an investigation into the theft and damage of political signs.
LAPD asks the public to report suspicious activity and wants the public to know further action is being taken to protect political signs throughout Los Alamos County. Read More

The Los Alamos County Clerk’s Office is gearing up for the 2020 General Election.
Due to the pandemic, the Clerk’s Office is providing sample ballots for voters to review ahead of the election.

The Clerk’s Office also has hard copy sample ballots available outside their office in the Los Alamos County Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave. and also will have them available at the Early Voting and Election Day Vote Centers.
