Los Alamos County Opens Application Process To Fill One Board Of Public Utilities Vacancy

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County is accepting applications until April 11 to fill one position on the Board of Public Utilities (BPU).

Comprising five voting members, the BPU governs the Department of Public Utilities (DPU), a county-owned utility that provides Los Alamos with electric, water, natural gas and wastewater services.

The selected individual will fill a position to be vacated July 1 due to an expiring term. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. Thursday, April 11.

Residents, Commuters, Urged To Sign Up For Cone Zone Alerts Prior To Road Construction

Road construction will soon begin on several key projects within the County. One State of New Mexico Department of Transportation (NMDOT) project of particular interest to many motorists will begin March 18 when Star Paving Company starts work on the N.M. 502 Reconstruction Project that includes installation of a roundabout at Trinity and Central near the former Hilltop House.

The Los Alamos County Council is seeking community feedback about the 2019 Strategic Leadership Plan unanimously adopted at the Council meeting held February 12, 2019. There will be two Town Hall sessions to collect feedback that will be hosted by Council Chair Sara Scott and Councilor Randall Ryti:

Road Repairs On Diamond Drive Start Monday

COUNTY News:

Weather Permitting, contract work will begin Monday to patch potholes on Diamond Drive.

Motorists should expect a moving single lane closure indicated by a digital arrow board.

Freshman P.E. Swim Program At Aquatic Center

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County is partnering with Los Alamos Public Schools to host LAHS Physical Education swimming curriculum at the Walkup Aquatic Center Monday through Friday, March 4 to March 21.

The main pool will be set-up short course for the duration of this program.

Students will learn Water Safety Skills including Reach, Throw, Don’t go; Community CPR, Learn-to-Swim and Conditioning.

Section Of Arizona Street Closed Wednesday-Thursday

DPU News:

Weather permitting, Parker Construction, under contract with Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will close a section of Arizona Street east of 45 Street at the unpaved water tank access road.

Crews will repair a waterline. The utility work will occur for two days, beginning Wednesday, Feb. 27 through Thursday, Feb. 28. Traffic control devices to close the section of road will be erected each at 8:30 a.m. and removed by 4 p.m. each day.
