Council Approves Raises For County Employees
Los Alamos County Councilors approved salary adjustments for general County employees Tuesday night. Courtesy/LACGeneral Los Alamos County employees haven’t seen pay raises since 2017 but that changed during Tuesday night’s County Council meeting.
Council voted 6-0 to implement a 2 percent increase for merit-based salary adjustments as well as a 2 percent increase for step structure-based salary adjustments. Council Vice Chair Pete Sheehey was absent from the meeting.

Council To Consider Water Rate Increase April 2
COUNTY News:
The Los Alamos County Council will hold a public hearing at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 2 in Council Chambers in the Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave., to consider adoption of a proposed ordinance to increase water rates by 6.25 percent.
The ordinance was approved by the Board of Public Utilities at the Feb. 20 public hearing. If Council adopts the ordinance, the new water rates take effect immediately.

Los Alamos County Zero Waste Team Turns One!
The Zero Waste Team celebrates its first year anniversary Wednesday at the Municipal Building. Team member Sue Barnes said it was a successful year in setting up a webpage on the Los Alamos County Environmental Services Division website, establishing a Facebook page, hosting numerous talks and participating in various events including the Bear Festival at the Los Alamos Nature Center. As the team proceeds into its second year, Barnes said the team is focusing on food waste across the County. She added that the community’s response to the Zero Waste Team’s work has been excellent. Study: Property Taxes In Los Alamos County Offer Big ‘Bang for Buck’
