Police Officers Issue Back To School Safety Reminder
LAPD News:
The Los Alamos Police Department would like to take a moment and remind motorists that school starts Thursday, Aug. 16.
Police officers will be out in school zones for traffic enforcement to ensure that all students, parents and staff are safe as the community transitions into another school year.
LAPD also reminds motorists to stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing, and students are loading and unloading. This pertains to traffic traveling in both directions.

Special County Council Meeting Set For Sept. 6

The Los Alamos County Council will meet in Special Session on Thursday, Sept. 6 regarding the findings of the Adams+Crow report titled “Independent Investigation of Improper Use of Public Funds by the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities,” which was released last week. The meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in Council Chambers and will be streamed live as well as broadcast on PAC-8.

Democratic nominee for House Dist. 46 and former executive director of the Regional Coalition of LANL Communities (RCLC) Saturday issued a statement regarding the results of a recent audit by the office of State Auditor Wayne Johnson and an investigative report from the law firm of Adams+Crow, which was commissioned by the Los Alamos County Council.

DPU Replaces Transmission Pipe At Golf Course
Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities crews worked continuously from Friday evening through Saturday night on a water main leak. The broken 16-inch transmission line has been replaced in an area between Woodland Road and the golf course. Gas, water and sewer crews still need to backfill the excavation area, DPU spokesperson Julie Williams Hill said today. Customers did not lose water service but did experience low water pressure. Water Main Break Near Area Of Golf Course
Department of Public Utilities crews responded to a water main break at about 7 p.m. today in the area of the golf course that is sending water into the nearby canyon. Superintendent Sammy Maestas, center, and his crew are working on Arizona Street and 35th Street to locate the source of the breakage and make repairs. Utility Tree Trimming In White Rock Week Of Aug. 13

Allied Tree Services, under contract with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities, will be conducting tree trimming commencing the week of Aug. 13. Allied Tree Services will be trimming trees from around power lines in the area of Rover Boulevard and adjacent streets in White Rock.
Crews will remain in the area for approximately three weeks.
