Los Alamos Police Chief Dino Sgambellone responded Tuesday to allegations that not all violent crime reported to the New Mexico Department of Public Safety (NMDPS) appears in the LAPD 2016 and 2017 annual crime reports presented to the Los Alamos County Council.

County: Residents Invited To Apply For Newly Created Community Development Advisory Board

COUNTY News:

Residents are invited to apply for a new Community Development Advisory Board. The new board was created by the County Council in May and tasked with making recommendations to the Council regarding the development, implementation and enforcement of County property maintenance codes within the corporate boundaries of the County.

Seven members are needed to fill the board. They will serve a three-year term. The application period will close at 5 p.m., June 18.

The Council is expected to appoint Board members at its Council meeting at 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 10 in Council Chambers. Read More

Los Alamos County Councilors are slated to vote this evening at their regular meeting on a proclamation declaring extreme fire conditions exist in the County and imposing restrictions on the use of fireworks.

If adopted, the sale and use of aerial fireworks and ground audible fireworks including helicopters, aerial spinners, missile type rockets, stick type rockets, chasers and firecrackers will be prohibited starting June 12 for 30 days in accordance with state statutes and the County Code.

Discoveries Action Team Meets June 21

COUNTY News:

The next monthly meeting of the Discoveries Action Team is Thursday, June 21 in the Pajarito Room of Fuller Lodge. Participants will meet  11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and continue discussing ideas suggested by the Place-Making and Place-Marketing subgroups.

The Los Alamos County Council presented a proclamation May 22 recognizing the second week of June as annual LBGTQ+ Pride Week. This is the first time Pride has been recognized or celebrated by the Los Alamos Community.
 
This year’s plans include a community Festival Friday, June 15 at Fuller Lodge and a concert at Ashley Pond sponsored by Friends of Los Alamos Pride (FLAP) featuring the Red Elvises.
