LANL Director, Local Officials React To LANL M&O Contract Award To Triad National Security

Los Alamos National Laboratory Director Terry Wallace reacted Friday morning to the Department of Energy’s National Nuclear Security Administration announcement that it has awarded the $2.5 billion management and operating contract for the Lab to Triad National Security, LLC.

Diamond Drive North And South Pedestrian Overpass Closure June 11-25

COUNTY News:

The North and South Pedestrian Overpasses on Diamond Drive will be closed for a resurfacing project starting June 11 and will re-open June 25.

This project will not affect vehicle traffic, however, it will affect foot traffic. Pedestrians wishing to cross Diamond Drive should utilize the crosswalks.

Those who use the North Overpass should cross at the Sandia Drive crosswalk. Those who use the South Overpass should cross at the Canyon Road crosswalk.

Motorists are urged to drive safely through this section as pedestrian traffic will increase through these crosswalks. Read More

2018 Primary Election Coming Down Home Stretch … Polls Close At 7 p.m. Today!

A steady stream of voters enters the Los Alamos County Municipal Building today for the 2018 Primary Election. As of about 3:30 p.m., 774 Democrats, 9 Libertarians and 348 Republicans cast ballots so far today. The grand total of ballots cast so far in this election is 2,950 compared to 2,887 at this time in the 2014 election. A burst of voters is expected between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. today. Absentee ballots are due in the County Clerk’s Office by 7 p.m., at the Municipal Building at 1000 Central Ave.

County Celebrates National Trails Day

In recognition of National Trails Day, Los Alamos County Recreation Leader Eric Hill hosts a booth Saturday afternoon at the Canyon Rim Trailhead. The Los Alamos County Fire Department issued Stage III Fire Restrictions Friday, which prohibits access to unpaved trail systems within the County; however, Hill pointed out that paved trails are still available for use. Local paved trails include the Canyon Rim Trail, La Mesa Trail near East Park and the paved area at Overlook Park in White Rock.
