District Judge Consolidates Recall Petition Cases Against Three Los Alamos County Councilors
By MAIRE O’NEILLFirst Judicial District Judge David K. Thomson has ordered three cases filed by Los Alamos resident Greg White against Los Alamos County Councilors Susan O’Leary, Antonio Maggiore and Rick Reiss to be consolidated.
In an order filed May 23, Judge Thomson also asked for opinions from the New Mexico Secretary of State, Los Alamos County Clerk and Attorney General Hector Balderas as to whether a state Constitutional provision barring a recall election after May 1 in a year in which a person holding elected office has their term expire

Single Car Accident Takes Out Power Pole On Central
Los Alamos police and firefighters respond to the scene of a single vehicle accident at about 3:15 p.m. today on Central Avenue near Rose Street. With warmer weather returning to Los Alamos, many screen doors and windows are open, residents are enjoying their yards or may be busy walking or hiking around the community.
Los Alamos County’s Animal Control division typically begins to see an uptick in complaints during the summer months about roaming animals or animals off leash, barking dogs and failure to clean up after pets.

‘Members of the Friends of Los Alamos Pride (FLAP) attended the Los Alamos County Council meeting Tuesday night to accept the proclamation, which recognizes the second week of June as Annual LGBTQ+ Pride Week. First Judicial District Judge David K. Thomson has slated hearings Tuesday on petitions for recall filed by Los Alamos resident Greg White against Los Alamos County Councilors Susan O’Leary, Antonio Maggiore and Rick Reiss.

Registered voters who are a resident of Los Alamos County are reminded that the deadline to apply for an existing vacancy on the County Council is quickly approaching.
The Council is seeking Letters of Interest from those interested in filling the unexpired term of Councilor James Chrobocinski, who resigned earlier in May. His term will expire Dec. 31, 2018. The deadline for Letters of Interest is 5 p.m. Thursday, May 31.
