County Update On Cajete Fire Evacuated Animals

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos County just issued an update on evacuation efforts for animals displaced by the Cajete Fire burning in the Jemez.

Several dogs have already been reunited with their owners and housing continues for a variety of other animals.

Owners are asked to stop by the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter and pick up their animals if they are able to return home at this point, or, to call the Animal Shelter 505-662.8179 and give the staff an anticipated pick up time. Leadership Los Alamos Accepting Registrations Through June 30 For Class Of 2017-18

LLA News:

Leadership Los Alamos is accepting applications for its 2017-18 program, which gets underway in September.

To date, LLA has graduated more than 250 leaders who are making a difference in this community. LLA is seeking to fill this year’s class with approximately 24 committed individuals who want to learn more and continue this fine tradition.

The program begins with a two-day orientation Sept. 8-9. The deadline to apply for the program is June 30.

Undersheriff Horne was found by his father early this afternoon in his home.

Undersheriff Horne was an honorable man who serve the community. His Christian faith was his anchor, and we know that he is being welcomed into the Kingdom.

Los Alamos County’s Animal Shelter staff are responding to a request received overnight from the Sandoval County emergency response team to assist Animal Amigos with evacuation of animals being impacted by the Cajete Fire burning in the Jemez Mountains.

Lisa Brenner And Son File Suit Against County

Los Alamos resident Lisa Brenner and her son, Patrick Brenner, filed a complaint for declaratory judgment ordering production of copies of emails sent or received May 15 by Los Alamos County Councilors. The suit is against Los Alamos County Council and its Designated Custodian of Public Records Barb Ricci.

About 20 people strapped on their bicycle helmets and climbed on their bikes Thursday to take part in Los Alamos County’s community bike ride.
