The final Capital Improvements Projects public meeting is 6 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23 in Council Chambers at the Municipal Building, 1000 Central Park Square.

Los Alamos County was sanctioned in December by the First Judicial District Court for its conduct related to the suit filed by former Police Cmdr. Randy Foster, former Cmdr. Scot Mills and former Det. Paige Early.

Unhitched Trailers: Ordinance Changes Take Effect, Enforcement Sweeps Begin

Los Alamos County Code Enforcement Officers will begin assisting Los Alamos Police Department patrols in tagging or towing unhitched trailers parked on streets, highways and public parking areas, under new changes to the County code that took effect Feb. 10.

The County Council recently approved a change in wording to Chapter 38 of the Traffic & Vehicles Section of the Code (Section 38-367), to address inadequate parking regulations that have in the past allowed trailers in these public areas as long as the trailer was hitched to a vehicle for at least 24 hours. Public meetings on future capital projects continue tomorrow at noon in the meeting room at White Rock Fire Station 3.

Los Alamos Golf Course staff announced today that they will open the golf course Friday, Feb. 19.

The golf pro shop will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the first tee time available starting at 10 a.m.  The golf range will be open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with the last bucket of range balls sold at 4:30 p.m. These operation hours are subject to change due to weather and course conditions, effective through Saturday, March 12 until the shift to daylight savings time, which begins Sunday, March 13.

Council voted 6-1 to express its opposition to Senate Joint Resolution 16A – a floor amendment to extend term limits for the office of sheriff.

Councilor Kristin Henderson joined the meeting by telephone. Councilor Pete Sheehey voted against the measure.
