LAPD To Launch Youth Cadet Program In August 2025!
The inaugural launch of the Los Alamos Police Department’s (LAPD) Youth Cadet Program is coming in August 2025! This program is for high school freshmen through senior grade levels. It will be held 5-8 p.m. once a month, August through April.
Participating young adults will learn about de-escalation, laws and application, public safety interactions, public speaking, public safety history, and career opportunities.

Los Alamos Acting Deputy Fire Chief Tim Johnson and Interim Fire Chief Wendy Servey at an event Tuesday, which recognized the 25th anniversary of the Cerro Grande Fire. Camp May Road Construction To Pause On Memorial Day
PAJARITO News:
Road construction occurring on Camp May Road under the regional Jemez Mountain Fire Protection Project (JMFPP) will be on hold Monday, May 26, in observance of the federal Memorial Day holiday.
For the public, this means Camp May and Pajarito Mountain will be accessible for a day longer than usual this weekend.
Camping at Camp May is limited to Friday and Saturday nights on a first-come, first-served basis this year to allow for full work capacity on the project. On most weekends, the entrance/exit to Camp May is closed and locked from midday Sundays through Thursdays. This weekend Read More

In observance of Memorial Day, some Los Alamos County government offices and services will close or have modified hours on Monday, May 26, 2025.
The County’s administrative offices, Atomic City Transit fixed bus routes, and the Environmental Services division will be closed Monday.

- Camp May Road – Open for the Memorial Day holiday – No construction activity.
- White Rock and Mesa libraries – Closed
