Planned Power Outage for Timber Ridge Apartments

COUNTY News:

Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities has scheduled a power outage for apartments on Timber Ridge Road and the Trinity Village Apartments Wednesday, July 9.

Electricity will be shut off at 9 a.m. and will be restored at around noon.

In support of DPU’s Electric Reliability Plan, DPU linemen are proactively replacing critical underground switchgear infrastructure identified as needing to be upgraded. This type of work requires a full power shutdown for three hours to allow linemen to complete this work safely.

New Hearing Loop at Fuller Lodge Helps Hearing Impaired

There’s good news for those with a hearing impairment who may have had difficulty hearing presentations at Fuller Lodge — Los Alamos County recently completed installation of a new T-coil hearing loop inside the large Pajarito Room commonly used for events.

Planned Outage to Affect Some 300 Customers at East End of North Mesa

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities has scheduled a 30-minute power outage at 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 8 that will affect approximately 300 customers at the east end of North Mesa. 

DPU linemen will be moving and making new electrical connections along Cheyenne and Sioux streets in support of an underground residential distribution (URD) replacement project in Tsikumu Village.

Update as of July 3 – the project area for the Central Avenue Improvements Project underway is Central Avenue from 15th Street to Oppenheimer and Oppenheimer from Trinity Drive north to the library driveway, ending at the entrance to the west parking lot.

Improvements include mill and overlay of asphalt, upgrade all sidewalk ramps to ADA standards, one additional crosswalk, concrete pedestrian crossings, tree removal and replacement, changes to planters, and changes to street and pedestrian lighting.   Read More

Public Works crews were expecting to complete road repairs by 4 p.m. today, however, they are not going to make it.

It now appears that the road work will not be completed until after 6 p.m. today.

DPU Water crews worked until 2 a.m. Tuesday to replace a corroded section of water main that blew out Monday afternoon.

Water in White may be cloudy due to entrained air, but is perfectly safe to drink, according to the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities Department (DPU).

The Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos has announced the schedule of events for the 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks Show at Overlook Park in White Rock.

The day’s events will commence at 2 p.m. Friday with music, bouncy toys, skydiving and more. Atomic City Transit will provide free transportation to the park. Late this afternoon, County workers guided motorists through a stretch of N.M. 4 northeast of the Rover Boulevard intersection where a water main break occurred at approximately 1 p.m. today.

Water crews were dispatched to excavate the area and make repairs, said officials with the Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities. 

DPU stated that no customers were without water, but some may have experienced low water pressure.
