Mr. Kitty is an 8-month-old neutered male Siamese cross. He has cream-colored undercoat swirl markings.
Mr. Kitty is getting along fine with the other cats in the communal cat room at the Los Alamos County Animal Shelter. He is very affectionate with women and gentle, quiet, older children. He also will tolerate dogs who understand how to behave with a cat.

The Los Alamos County Parks, Recreation & Open Space Division announces that the Hawk to Hilltopper event is set for noon to 3 p.m., May 30 at Urban Park.
This annual event is a celebration for 8th grade students transitioning to high school. Students are treated to a barbeque lunch, inflatable toys and the famous shaving cream war. The event will end with the Los Alamos Fire Department hosing off the students after the shaving cream war.
The event typically ends around 3 p.m. with parents picking up students at the park.

Los Alamos DPU’s Seasonal Tiered Water Rate Hearing Set For Wednesday
COUNTY News:
A seasonal, tiered water consumption charge for residential customers will go to the Board of Public Utilities for hearing and public comment this Wednesday.
The proposed Ordinance 02-242 would implement the tiered consumption charge for residential customers between May and October of each year; the peak season for water usage.
If approved by the Board, then adopted by Council, the new water rate would also increase monthly service fees for most retail customer classes, as well as increase the bulk water consumption charge and bulk water service fees for wholesale Read More

Los Alamos County Sheriff Reports Convicted Violent Sex Offender Moving to State

Los Alamos County Sheriff Marco Lucero received information from the New Mexico Department of Public Safety regarding a convicted violent sex offender moving to New Mexico.
Sheriff Lucero was advised today that convicted violent sex offender William Wright, who is homeless, reported that he is headed to New Mexico. Wright did not specify where in New Mexico he is going.
Wright is 44 years old, 5’11’’ and weighs 170 pounds. He has brown eyes and black hair.

Future of Pajarito Mountain Ski Area Decided Tonight

Members of the Los Alamos Ski Club (LASC) will vote on the future of the Pajarito Mountain Ski Area at 6 p.m. today at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church, 3900 Trinity Dr.
Following a discussion period, the club will vote on a proposal to transfer all land and assets of the Ski Area to the Los Alamos County and the Sipapu Group who between them would then own, operate and invest in Pajarito Mountain.
