Los Alamos Kiwanis To Celebrate Community Week With Aluminum Can Collection Saturday At Sullivan Field

The week of Sept. 16-23 is Celebrate Community Week when all community service organizations are encouraged to participate in projects that support the community.

Kiwanis Club of Los Alamos is going to hold its bi-monthly aluminum can collection 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 16 at Sullivan Field.

Los Alamos High School Key Club members will support Kiwanians in this project. Aluminum donations are welcome, but we are also happy to pay a small amount for aluminum. Proceeds go to youth projects, especially high school scholarships.

Eastern New Mexico University Sees Largest Enrollment Growth In Last Decade

PORTALES — Eastern New Mexico University released enrollment data Friday, Sept. 8; the results showed the most significant enrollment growth in the last decade. With a first-time freshman class up 14.4%, new transfer students up 16.5%, and total graduate enrollment up 3.3%, overall enrollment increased to 5,398, a 5.7% increase from last year.

Full-time students for both undergraduate and graduate classes are up, leading to an 8.4% increase in student credit hours, adding over 4,000 more student credit hours compared to the 22-23 school year.

Higher Education Department To Host ‘Pathways To College And Careers Day’ Wednesday

The online silent auction for the LAPS Foundation’s Taste of Knowledge event is now live! Over 30 silent auction items were generously donated by local businesses, organizations and community members. Los Alamos Middle School and high school students now have access to live, 1:1 tutoring 24 hours a day, seven days a week through TutorMe, where every student should have the support of a tutor who cares.

College students who want to start a career of a lifetime can apply for the Summer 2024 FBI Honors Internship Program.

The application window opened Sept. 5, 2023, and the deadline to apply is 11:59 p.m. EDT, Sept. 20, 2023.

The FBI Honors Internship is open for full-time undergraduate and graduate students. This paid internship gives students the opportunity to work across the country, including New Mexico.
