ESPAÑOLA — The LANL Foundation honored 16 teachers from Northern New Mexico who have achieved their National Board Certification, alongside their coaches and other support providers, at a luncheon Saturday, May 13, at its Española office.

The 16 teachers have achieved their certification over the past several years, with Saturday’s event being the first time the group has been able to gather to celebrate due to pandemic-era restrictions.

The LAHS Boys Track & Field team won their third straight Class 4A State Championship at UNM, Friday and Saturday, May 12-13!  The Hilltopper Girls team were also State Champions for the third year in a row – see separate article for their results.

In a hard-fought battle with runner-up Albuquerque Academy, the Hilltoppers were behind for all of the first day of the two-day meet, taking the lead only mid-way through Saturday’s competition.  Read More

The Los Alamos High School (LAHS) Girls Track & Field team won their third State Championship in a row at UNM Friday and Saturday, May 12-13, a feat duplicated by the Hilltopper Boys as well (see separate article for their results).

Ginnie Pickett Awarded Summit Garden Club Scholarship

The Summit Garden Club of Los Alamos has awarded its 2023 Pat Edmonds-Sue Graves scholarship to Ginnie (Gwendolyn) Pickett of Los Alamos. This scholarship has been given to a Los Alamos High School senior majoring in environmental studies each year for 51 years. As early as 7th grade, in Curtis Terrill’s science class, Pickett recognized her interest in insects – their needs and roles in nature.
