Virginia Tech Professor Rolf Mueller started a journey to record the movements of bats in Brunei nearly three years ago. Now, having overcome multiple delays caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, he has a working motion capture tunnel for both live bats and robots that copy their flight.

ALBUQUERQUE — The newly founded Jack Beaty Educational Scholarship Foundation will provide scholarships to help New Mexico students pay for tuition.

An applicant must be a New Mexico resident, a high school senior, a high school graduate or have a GED equivalent with plans to enroll in an accredited two- or four-year college, university, vocational training center or polytechnic/trade school in the fall 2023 semester.

The local Constitution Day Essay Contest, sponsored by the Los Alamos Federated Republican Women (LAFRW), is designed to challenge students to learn more about the U.S. Constitution and to express original, thoughtful ideas in essay writing.

Michelle Lujan Grisham Monday announced that the Public Education Department has completed an overhaul of reporting requirements, trimming 34 percent from administrative work required of school districts and charter schools across New Mexico and cutting teacher paperwork by 41 percent.

Los Alamos Students Perform Significantly Better Than State Average In Newly Released Spring Assessment Test Scores

The New Mexico Public Education Department recently released student test data from the 2021-2022 school year. Students from around the state took these tests last spring in the subject areas of language arts, math and science.

This was the first year that the state used the New Mexico Measures for Student Success and Achievement (NM-MSSA). The scores this year will be used to establish baseline data on student achievement across the state.
