DPU Shares Leadership Opportunity For HS Students

COUNTY News:

The Los Alamos Department of Public Utilities (DPU) is conducting an essay contest for high school students as part of an effort organized by Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS).

A local student may receive a sponsorship to attend a week-long summer leadership rally in Idaho called the ICUA Youth Rally.

UAMPS will select 10 students from among its member organizations to send to the rally. DPU is a member of UAMPS so high school sophomores, juniors and seniors whose parents or guardians are customers of DPU are eligible for the UAMPS sponsorships.

New Mexico middle- and high-school girls are encouraged to apply for a free, two-week, virtual Summer Physics Camp for Young Women, taught primarily by the women scientists and engineers of Los Alamos National Laboratory, June 6-17, 2022.

Starting today, the Los Alamos High School Hilltopper’s Varsity Squad will participate in the Rio Grande High School Hockey League year-end tournament played at the Outpost Ice Arena in Albuquerque.

The tournament runs March 4-6 and consists of teams from New Mexico, Colorado and Texas.

The toppers will open with the Coronado Thunderbirds (El Paso) at 11:15 a.m. today.
