New Mexico School Boards Association Awards Scholarship To Los Alamos High School 2021 Graduate Audrey Nolan

Los Alamos High School 2021 graduate Audrey Nolen has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the New Mexico School Boards Association (NMSBA).

Nolan is one of 24 outstanding high school graduating seniors to receive this award.

Nominations for this scholarship were submitted by New Mexico Boards of Education representing eight regions.

Selections were based on criteria including:

  • Demonstrated Leadership;
  • Academic Performance;
  • Community Involvement; and
  • Extracurricular Activities.

Candidates Sought For District 5 School Board Vacancy

The Los Alamos School Board is in search of a candidate to fill a vacancy on the board created by the departure of Dawn Jalbert.

Jalbert, who represents District 5, submitted her letter of resignation at the June 11 School Board meeting and June 30 is her final day serving on the board.

The person appointed by the school board will serve through Dec. 31, 2021, which officially ends Jalbert’s term.

Those interested in serving as the District 5 representative beyond Dec. 31,2021 must declare their candidacy and run in the election in November 2021.

Taos School Of Music 2021 Chamber Music Festival With Borromeo Quartet, Robert McDonald And Young Artists

Founded in 1963, the Taos School of Music has celebrated chamber music with its live summer festival for the past six decades. This year, the school is offering audiences a Chamber Music Festival June 27 through Aug. 14.

NMPED Chooses 108 New Mexico Schools For Family Income Index Pilot Project

SANTA FE — The New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) has allocated $15 million in targeted aid to 108 New Mexico schools based on the new Family Income Index designed to fight concentrated poverty in schools.

The Friends of Los Alamos County Libraries (FLACL) have announced scholarship awards of $2,500 each presented to four Los Alamos High School seniors.
