LAPS Switches To Online Student Registration
LAPD News:
In order to save time for parents, Los Alamos Public Schools is switching from paper to an online student registration and data validation system, powered by InfoSnap.
All parents will be asked to complete the new password-protected registration.In the long run, LAPS will reduce the number of forms submitted by parents and streamline the start of school for students. In addition, annual updates will be simplified.
The district will use secure InfoSnapsoftware to verify studentdemographic, emergency, and medical information and collect permission slips, as applicable. Read More

The Los Alamos Teen Center and Pajarito Environmental Education Center (PEEC) are hosting a video game tournament at 6 p.m., Tuesday, May 24.
Video games will be projected on a 10’ x 20’ screen in the planetarium dome at the Los Alamos Nature Center at 2600 Canyon Road. This event is free and open to the public and no registration is required.

Los Alamos High School students Sophia Li (10th grade) and Jovan Zhang (12th grade) recently placed 4th with their team project in the Computational Biomedical and Bioinformatics Category at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair May 7-13 in Phoenix, Ariz. Zhang is a three-time Intel Finalist and winner. He and Li represented the State of New Mexico and competed against 1,760 students, in grades 9-12th, from 76 countries, regions and provinces across the globe for $5 million in prizes and awards. WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Friday, Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz will dedicate the upgraded National Spherical Torus Experiment (NSTX-U) at Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory.
The NSTX-U is the nation’s newest fusion energy experiment, a spherical tokamak that explores the creation of high-performance plasmas at temperatures hotter than the center of the sun. The event will include a tour of the NSTX-U facility and the dedication ceremony.

Award-winning filmmaker Patrick McCullough has just signed on to bring his Filmmakers Ink Film Camp to Los Alamos the week of June 13-17.
The camp is open to kids aged 8-10 and 11-15 from Los Alamos and the surrounding area. Filmmakers Ink, now in its 8th year in Santa Fe, offers programs in Intensive Filmmaking/Acting and Special FX to inspire students to make movies. Camp will take place at Trinity on the Hill Episcopal Church.
